Who runs this site

roni.io is the personal website of Roni Gorodetsky. I am the person responsible for it. You can reach me through the contact box on the About page.

What this site collects

The site has no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no advertising. It does not ask for your name or email address anywhere. What it can collect is limited to the following.

  • Usage statistics, only if you accept. I use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read. It is loaded with all storage denied. If you click "Accept" on the cookie bar, it sets cookies and records page views with your IP address anonymised. If you click "Reject", or do nothing, no analytics cookies are set.
  • Your own settings, kept in your browser. Your cookie choice and your progress through a step-by-step guide are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to me.
  • Server logs. The company that hosts the site keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address and requested page, to operate and protect the service.
  • What you send me. If you email me or message me on LinkedIn, I receive whatever you write, and I use it to reply.

Services from other companies

Loading a page on this site contacts these third parties, who may see your IP address:

  • Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces.
  • Google Analytics, as described above.
  • UserWay, which provides the accessibility toolbar in the corner of each page. It stores your accessibility preferences in your browser.

The share links on articles and guides are ordinary links. They contact LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp or Hacker News only when you click one.

Changing your mind

To withdraw consent for analytics, clear this site's data in your browser settings. The cookie bar will appear again on your next visit and you can choose "Reject".

Your rights

You can ask me what personal data I hold about you, and ask me to correct or delete it. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Write to me through the contact box and I will answer.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
